Coastguard and police searching for two adults and three children have been stood down.

Members of Bridlington's RNLI crew are on their way back to the lifeboat station, following a precautionary search with the Coastguard and police.

The alarm bad been raised at around 4.35pm, when a woman in wet clothing approached a woman in the North Pier area of Harbour Road, claiming she had struggled to get off the beach as the tide came in.

She also claimed two adults and three children had been walking ahead of her and that she was going to get help.

However, when she did not return, the second woman raised the alarm. It is not known if the other five people she mentioned had already returned to shore.

No-one was found during search by Bridlington Coastguard, the RNLI and Humberside Police.

Officers assisting in the search have called for the woman in the wet clothes – who was said to be wearing a grey cardigan and brown boots – or anyone with information about the whereabouts of the two adults and three children, to call 101 quoting log 406 of April 12.
