UPDATE: Bridlington jewellers burglary

A number of men on motorcycles wearing helmets are alleged to have used tools to cut a hole in a Bridlington Jeweller’s window yesterday.

Police were called at 4.51pm yesterday to Griffin Jewellers on Prospect Street to a report of a burglary taking place while the store was still open.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Police attended and cordoned off the shop and crime scene investigators conducted inquiries yesterday evening and investigations are continuing today.

“Statements have been taken from a number of people and detectives would like to trace other witnesses.

“They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the break-in itself or the motorcyclists arriving or leaving the vicinity.”

There are reports that some members of the public may have recorded the crime on their mobile phone and police would like to hear from them.

No members of staff were hurt in the incident.
