Trouble at bakery

SPECULATION surrounds the future of Woodhead bakers.

A meeting of employees of the 74-year-old Scarborough based company which has a shop in Chapel Street, Bridlington, as well as in Driffield, Malton, Hull and York, was due to take place yesterday, Wednesday, about its future.

Enquiries at the firm’s factory in Beaconsfield Street, Scarborough, where it has eight outlets, were referred to insolvency experts The P&A Partnerships.

It is understood that a number of staff members were told on Tuesday that they could be made redundant.
