A new footbridge over the railway line, linking Georgian Way and the West Hill estate, has moved a step closer.

Planning permission has been applied for the replacement steel structure, although there is no date for when it could be in place.

The damaged old bridge was pulled down last year after a survey showed it had significant wear and tear.

Plans to replace it hit a stumbling block when the council said other projects were a higher priority for its budget.
