Michael Anthony Bartlett has been named as the driver who died after his lorry careered off the road yesterday.
The 57-year-old, from of Moorends near Thorne in South Yorkshire, is believed to have been taken ill behind the wheel of the of the Scania heavy goods vehivle.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “The Scania heavy goods vehicle that Mr Bartlett was driving is believed to have collided with a kerb as he prepared to leave the Tesco store.
“The ambulance service attended and gave first aid before transporting the driver to Scarborough Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
“The circumstances of the collision and events leading to the death of the man are being investigated and anyone with information is asked to call Humberside Police on 101 quoting log number 46 of Tuesday 17 March 2015.”
