The 11-week scheme is due to start on Monday, according to Cllr Richard Burton.

"I'm very, very pleased because we have waited a long time for this and I appreciate that residents have had issues with potholes and the state of the road.

Repairs on way for Brid’s worst road?"This investment is very welcome. It will benefit the people who live around Bempton Lane, the people from Bempton and Buckton who use it to get into Bridlington and tourists coming to the RSPB centre - this road is used in so many different ways."

Cllr Burton said he understood the work would be carried out in stages so there would not be a full closure of the road, and the footpaths and verges would be completed first.
