Town remembers

IN two days time Bridlington will begin its annual tribute to those servicemen who have lost their lives in conflict.

A rededication ceremony this Saturday at the Garden of Remembrance on Wellington Road will allow anyone who wishes to remember a loved one, to place a cross in the special area.

Bridlington will hold two other ceremonies in the near future to remember all of those who have sacrificed their lives for the liberties we enjoy today.

The remembrance day service itself and two minute silence is at 11am on Friday November 11 and the Remembrance Sunday Parade will be on November 13. It is a particularly special occasion for the Royal British Legion, who celebrate their 90th anniversary this year.

‘The Children of the Mist’ pipe band will lead this year’s Remembrance Sunday Parade to the War Memorial where a service conducted by The Reverend Jonanthan Couper of Christ Church will take place.

A brass band will also be in attendance to lead the hymns on what promises to be a poignant occasion.

The rededication ceremony will take place this Saturday at 10.50am and anyone wishing to join the Remembrance Sunday Parade should meet at the town hall, ready to move off by 10.25am on November 13.
