HOW much does this gigantic pumpkin weigh?
That’s the question posed by Paul Stroud at Pro-Fruit, on Prospect Street, who is holding a guess the weight competition for it.
He will run the competition up until Hallowe’en, when all proceeds collected will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Paul, who has had the shop for around 20 years, said: “It’s really heavy. In fact it took two of us to pick it up off the ground to put it in my van. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it, maybe make some soup with it. It’s going to be a bit difficult to cut up though!”
The person with the closest guess will win a £50 prize.
It was grown by Michael Smith, of Boynton, who left a note for Paul after a friend spotted a much smaller pumpkin at the front of the shop.
“I had to go down to the allotment when it was dark to collect the pumpkin in the van, it was like a sketch out of Only Fools and Horses,” added Paul.
