The Bridlington Talking Newspaper team is hoping to secure funding from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.

Bridlington Talking Newspaper is bidding to land a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

The newspaper, one of three groups on the list for funding, provides free modern technology to allow blind or partially sighted people to listen to local news taken from the Bridlington Free Press and other publications.

Chairman Chris Slingsby said: “The Bridlington Talking Newspaper has been offering a free service to the sight impaired community for the last 29 years.

“We have started to develop a system using voice recognition, once again helping our local community keep up to date with the events happening in and around Bridlington.”

Voting is open in all Tesco stores in July and August viatokens at rthe checkouts.
