Grindale-based Skydive GB has teamed up with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) to host a charity skydive day.
On Sunday 1 July, participants will have the unique opportunity to tandem skydive above the beautiful Yorkshire Coast while raising funds the life-saving service.
A Tandem Skydive is where a person is safely harnessed to a highly qualified instructor.
After a short training session and a flight up to 10,000 feet, the participant and their instructor will jump from the aircraft and freefall for around 30 seconds.
When the parachute is opened, the person and instructor have three to five minutes of parachute flight before touchdown back on the ground.
Announced as Skydive GB’s leading charity partner earlier this year, the rapid response air emergency service supports those across Yorkshire who are in urgent need of medical attention.
Running two medically equipped helicopters doesn’t come cheap – in fact they need to raise £12,000 per day just to keep them in the air. That’s the equivalent of £4.4 million per year.
A spokesman said: “The team at the skydive centre are reaching out to potential fundraisers to see if they would be interested in participating in the experience.
“Not only will they be getting a reduced price for a tandem skydive, the money raised will be directly benefiting this fantastic charity.
“As the YAA is our charity of choice for 2018, we’re able to offer the tandem skydive experience for as little as £199 – that’s £50 off the usual price.
“All we ask is that you raise a minimum of £50 for the charity, but we’re sure you’ll raise much more than that.
“If anyone is interested in taking part at Yorkshire’s only skydive centre then pre-booking is essential.
“Call us on 01262 228033, choose an arrival time, and pay a £49 non-refundable deposit.
