Show the true Bridlington and turn the town red

This week’s front page looks a little different as we try to do something that will really make a difference to our town.

With your help, we can achieve our aims to get 607 large poppies put up around Bridlington. It would be great to surpass that.

This idea has taken many weeks to develop. We’re really proud of it, we hope the community will be proud of it.

Thank you to everybody who has helped to get it off the ground, and given their support and advice.

Now it is over to you, the public, to make this idea work. Buy the large poppies - and be generous enough to donate an extra one - so that we can make sure there is at least one on display at every school, every sports club, at every care home, on every landmark building around the town.

So many poppies that wherever you go around Bridlington at the start of November, you have a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that so many local men made in the last century.

Let’s be the town that sets the standard for marking the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. Let’s gain a reputation for being the town that put poppies everywhere and made a spectacle.

Let’s show that Bridlington will never forget.
