A local pub and restaurant is launching a book of recipes and stories from the kitchen to coincide with a food festival this weekend.
Charlie Kilburn of The Ship Inn in Sewerby releases ‘Steady Away’ this Sunday, May 26, while the pub is hosting 15 food producers who will be a part of the food festival.
TV chef Stephanie Moon, who has appeared on Great British Menu, will also be at the festival and will offer cooking demonstrations.
Charlie, who has run the ship along with his wife Louise and father in law Graham Murphy, said: “The book has recipes that used to feature in the What’s Cooking page in the Free Press but it also has some stories and memorable moments from the kitchen.
“Shane Aitken has done the cover image for us and the book looks fantastic. The books cost £27 to produce, and I am selling them for £30 with the £3 being donated to the NSPCC. Myself and Louise will also be running in the Great North Run for the NSPCC this year.
“The food festival on Sunday should be great - we have lots of providers and products on offer.”
The festival will run from 11am until 4pm on Sunday, alongside the Ship Inn’s 10 day beer festival which starts today and runs until next Saturday.
