Sewerby could not have proved a more fitting official start point for the Tour de Yorkshire.
Everything in the authentically Yorkshire Village had been coloured blue and yellow, from wheelbarrows to cupcakes and even the odd person.

From Main Street to Church Lane, hundreds of eager spectators positioned themselves to witness just a brief flash of the peloton.
Jean Smith, 67, is staying with friends on Church Lane for the prestigious event.
“There was no-one here earlier, but Bridlington people always live things to the last minute,” she said.
“I think it’s absolutely wonderful. It’s not only going to put Yorkshire on the map but also Bridlington. Everyone should come for a holiday here, it’s brilliant, brilliant Brid.”

Beautiful blue wheelbarrow
“One lady had even painted a wheelbarrow blue, everything in Sewerby looks fantastic.”
Denise Walker, of the Bridlington based Makara Morris Dancers said: “We are not going to perform while the peloton rides past because we don’t want to cause a distraction and cause one of them to fall off!
“I think it’s great, I have never seen anything like it before in Sewerby. There were literally trains of children walking up Main Street.
“I think it would be great if it was done annually and even better if it came through Bridlington every year.”

Bridlington's Morris dancers were out in force to welcome the peloton
Following the official start the peloton stormed its way through to Flamborough, Bempton, Buckton and on the Hunmanby and North Yorkshire.
