Youngsters from 6th Bridlington Scout group had a whale of a time skating at the ice rink provided by the council for the town’s residents to enjoy.
Leader Sharon Taylor and her husband took the full Scout Group down and said how much the youngsters enjoyed it.
“There have been quite a few negative comments about it as it is hard to skate on, not ice and not very big,” said Sharon.
“However, most of us residents are behind this, as we know it has all been provided free of charge and the kids are loving it. It is difficult to skate on at first, until you get the hang of it but then it is brilliant, same as a normal ice rink is.
“Our kids were falling over, stumbling and struggling but still had big smiles on their faces and by the end of it, every single one of them were skating on their own – even our littlest ones who are six years old.
“To say that Bridlington hasn’t had anything going on at Christmas for a good few years and now have had a fantastic light switch on with bands and rides etc, an ice rink for a week and the Coca Cola lorry visit all for free is brilliant.”
