SOME of the best memories from many children s time at school come from school plays and concerts.
Former pupils of Moorfield Junior School will be able to relive those days at a special production pencilled in for Easter.
The school, which can name children s entertainer Peter Simon and Preston North End footballer Richard Cresswell among the hundreds who have been taught there, will close its doors after more than 100 years this summer.
To commemorate the occasion it wants to hold an extravaganza of music, drama and dance made up of revamped sketches and numbers from previous productions as well as new talents that have been learnt since leaving the school.
Beverley Pawson, music coordinator at Moorfield Junior School, said: "We are waiting to see what level of interest there is and we are hoping to set up a committee.
"We anticipate it will be people who have left in the past 10 or 15 years, but it will be very interesting if we get some that go further back than that.
"It is to commemorate the successes the school has had. We have been particularly well thought of for music, drama and dance for a long time, not just within the school but within the wider community.
"We can t really let the school just disappear and die."
Although this event will be performed by ex-pupils only, children currently studying at Moorfield will be involved in productions of their own nearer the summer.
The date for the show will be announced shortly, but old boys and old girls wanting to take part are asked to contact Moorfield Junior School, tel 673219, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
