A GROUP of self-styled ‘Silver Surfers’ who meet regularly at Headlands School enjoyed a tasty meal prepared by students while they continue to learn more about computers.

Last week, the Silver Surfers met again to take part in ‘digital media’ training, which saw the pensioners team up with students from Headlands Community Group and take part in an internet-based quiz on the local environment and history - won by Pam Broadley and Lottie Gray.

The group, which formed last year due to links between Headlands and Age UK, meet regularly in the Headlands Learning Resource Centre.

A meal prepared by the school’s Year 10 catering class was then served to members, before Headlands director of ICT, Chris Withers, gave a talk on digital media - explaining new media such as BBC iPlayer and YouTube and how it differs from analogue technology such as VHS and cassette.

The next session will include a complimentary Christmas meal and even more useful computer training, and if anyone of a certain age would like to get involved, they can contact Ian Wormald at Headlands on 676198 or email parental.voice@headlandsschool.co.uk
