The Bridlington Lunch Box Club, run by Royal Voluntary Service volunteer June Fern, has proved to be so popular that the group has had to create a waiting list for people wishing to attend.
The simple idea of people bringing packed lunches to sit together every Friday at the Jamroz Centre has proved to be a winning formula.
Laurence Quirk Project manager for the social dining project, is delighted by how the group has taken off.
He said: “I’m really pleased with the success of this club. It’s such a simple idea and the volunteers have worked really hard to make it a great club for people in Bridlington.”
June Fern, volunteer coordinator at the group, said: “Membership of the Friday club is presently closed but if anyone is interested in joining we will be starting a new session on Wednesdays.”
