Police incident on Kirkgate

Police were called to an address on Kirkgate in Bridlington at 9.10pm last night in connection with a concern for the safety of a woman at the address.

A man at the address was causing concern to the woman, who called police and was then taken to a nearby police station to be supported by local officers.

The 28 year old man inside the address was believed to have been in possession of a bladed object and specially trained officers were deployed to the location.

At around 11.55pm the man left the property and was arrested.

Following his arrest he was taken to Scarborough General Hospital, as a precautionary measure. He remains in hospital at this time.

Fire Service and Ambulance were called to the location.

The woman was not injured in the incident.

The area was cordoned off at the time of the incident and nearby properties were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

All people have now returned to their homes.
