Planned roadworks in Yorkshire, the Humber and the North East

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday June 12 and could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

All Highways England maintenance and improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 Junction 30 Chesterfield to Junction 31 Worksop

There are currently narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit in both directions as part of the smart motorway scheme. The hard shoulder is also closed, and the project is due to be completed in the autumn. The northbound side of the motorway will be reduced to a single lane for three nights from Monday 15 June and for one night on Saturday 20 June. The northbound entry slip at junction 31 will be closed overnight for three nights from the Monday 15 June. The northbound exit slip at junction 30 will be closed overnight on the Wednesday 17 June. The southbound side will also be reduced to a single lane overnight for six nights from the Monday 15 June. The northbound side of the motorway will only have two lanes open between junction 30 to junction 31 from 6am to 8pm Saturday 20 June. The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, and drivers will be able to follow clearly-signed diversions.

M1 Junction 34 Tinsley to Junction 35a Stocksbridge

The hard shoulder is currently closed in both directions as part of the smart motorway scheme. There will be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit until the project is completed in winter 2016. Both sides of the motorway will be reduced to a single lane between junctions 34 and 35a for four nights from Monday 15 June. Drivers will also be diverted off and then back on the motorway on the northbound side at junction 34 overnight on Tuesday 16 June. The northbound entry slips at junction 34 and junction 35 will be closed overnight on the Thursday 18 June. The southbound entry slip at junction 35 and junction 35a will be closed overnight for two nights on Tuesday 16 June. The southbound exit slip at junction 34 will be closed overnight for two nights on the Tuesday 16 June. The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, and drivers will be able to follow clearly-signed diversion routes.

M1 Junction 39 Denby Dale to Junction 42 (M62 interchange)

The hard shoulder is currently closed in both directions as part of the smart motorway scheme. There will be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place until the project is completed in autumn 2015. The southbound side of the motorway will be closed overnight for three nights between junctions 39 and 40 from Friday 19 June. The northbound exit slip will be closed overnight for four nights and junction 40 from Monday 15 June. The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, and drivers will be able to follow clearly-signed diversion routes.

M18 Junction 4 Doncaster to Junction 5 Doncaster

The northbound side of the motorway between junctions 4 and 5 will be closed overnight for resurfacing work on the Monday 15 June. The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, and clearly-signed diversions will be in place.

M62 Junction 26 Bradford (M606 interchange)

The slip roads and roundabout at the junction will be reduced to a single lane overnight for five nights, between 7pm and 6am, from Monday 15 June. There will also be a 30mph speed limit in place until April 2016 while work takes place to add a third lane to the roundabout.

M62 Junction 22 Rishworth Mooor to Junction 24 Ainley Top

The eastbound side of the motorway will be reduced to a single lane overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Wednesday 17 June & Thursday 18 June for roadmarkings and studs.

M62 Junction 26 Chainbar to Junction 28 Tingley

The eastbound side of the motorway between junction 27 to junction 28will be reduced to a single lane overnight on the Thursday 18 June, between 8pm and 6am, for technology works. The eastbound side of the motorway between junction 26 to junction 27 will be reduced to a single lane overnight on the Friday 19 June, between 8pm and 6am, for technology works.

A1 Ferrybridge to Barnsdale Bar

The northbound side of the motorway from Ferrybridge to Barnsdale Bar will be closed overnight for two nights for resurfacing work from Saturday 20 June. The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, and a clearly-signed diversion will be in place.

A180/A160 Immingham, Humberside

There will be narrow lanes on the A180 and A160 along with a 50mph speed limit while work takes place to improve access to the Port of Immingham, including upgrading the A160 to a dual carriageway. The project is due to be completed in autumn 2016. A1M Junction 63 Chester-le-Street to 62 Durham

The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for resurfacing work between junctions 63 and 62 on Monday 15 June. A clearly-signed diversion will be in place. Lane closures will also be in place 24 hours a day on the southbound carriageway between Tuesday 16 and Monday 22 June, with traffic using the hard shoulder and a contraflow system on the northbound carriageway instead.

A1M Junction 50, North Yorkshire

There will be a lane closure on the northbound side of the A1M for technology work from 6am until 9.30am on Saturday 20 June.

A1 Junction 56 Barton to Junction 51 Leeming Bar

There will be phases of overnight lane closures and full carriageway closures while work takes place to upgrade the road to motorway standards. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day, and a lane closure on the junction 51 roundabout between 9am and 4pm until the end of October. The southbound side of the A1 will be closed overnight between Scotch Corner and Junction 51 from Monday 15 to Friday 19 June. The closure will take place between 8pm and 6am and drivers will be able to follow a clearly-signed diversion route. The project is due to be completed by spring 2017.

A1 Lamesley to Swalwell, Gateshead

Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place while work is carried out to upgrade the section of the A1 past Gateshead. There are also overnight lane closures between 8pm and 6am. The project is due to be completed by spring 2016.

A1 Alnwick, Northumberland

The southbound side of the A1 is currently closed near Alnwick while work takes place to refurbish a bridge. Traffic is running in both directions on the northbound carriageway 24 hours a day. Temporary traffic lights are also in use on the A1068 below the bridge. The project is due to be completed by August.

A19 Silverlink to Wallsend, North Tyneside

The southbound exit slip road and northbound entry slip road at the Silverlink junction will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for maintenance work from Tuesday 16 until Friday 19 June. There will also be a lane closure on the southbound carriageway. The project is due to be completed 15 July, and a diversion will be in place.

A66 Long Newton to Teesside Park

Sections of the A66 between Long Newton to Teesside Park will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Friday 12 June until Friday 3 July while work takes place to paint new road markings, white lines and replace reflective road studs. Only one section will be closed at any one time, and clearly-signed diversions will be in place.

A66 Cumbrian Border to Bowes

Lane closures will be in place for investigative work between 9am and 4pm from Monday 15 until Wednesday 17 June.
