Wind farms, free trade and an East Yorkshire comeback topped the bill at a Liberal Democrat pizza and politics evening.
At one of three events held across the region to welcome a post-referendum surge in new members, Lib Dem councillor Mike Heslop-Mullens said the newcomers had “revitalised” the local party.
Cllr Heslop-Mullens, who sits on Bridlington Town Council, said after the Nafferton gathering: “We had a fun and productive evening getting to know our new members and passionately discussing local issues.
“Almost exactly a year ago our leader Tim Farron was elected and launched #LibDemFightback – and this is what it means on a local level.
“We knew that our historic election losses left a big hole in British politics and our support would have to return eventually to fill the void and that’s what we’re seeing now.
“We’ve got some terrific new additions to our local teams.
“We’re feeling revitalised with a strong and growing base of supporters who’ll stand us in good stead for campaigning on local issues at both council and parliamentary levels.”
