St John’s Church Hall in Sewerby will open its doors to support Christmas donations campaign

The kind-hearted congregation of St John’s Sewerby Church has decided to use its large church hall to do something positive for the community at Christmas.

The hall will be open on a number of days so people can donate items to help people who are struggling over the Christmas period.

The first drop-off dates will be on December 1 and 2 between noon and 3pm.

The drop-off and delivery dates will be December 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16 and 30, also between noon and 3pm.

Helen Owen, churchwarden at St John’s Sewerby Church, said: “We are looking for donations food including basics and, of course, Christmas food (non perishable).

“We also need gifts for all ages, toys, games, books and toiletries.

“I contacted Martongate School. They were very enthusiastic and helped us to structure the project.”
