Chairman of Muston Parish Council, Cllr Gemma Owen, was proud to present the cheque to Nick Ingham, chairman of Filey Sea Cadets.

At a meeting of the parish council it was unanimously agreed that the cadets would be a fitting organisation to receive the donation due to their work with young people and their love of the sea, which Prince Philip was passionate about.

Chairman of Muston Parish Council, Cllr Gemma Owen, was proud to present the cheque to Nick Ingham, chairman of Filey Sea Cadets. She said: “This is a small token of our appreciation in recognition of the hard work, life skill opportunities and outstanding results community groups such as Sea Cadets can offer to young people”

Mr Ingham said: “We are incredibly grateful to Muston Parish Council for this donation in memory of Prince Phillip.

“Making a donation to a nautical youth organisation such as ours is so pertinent given Prince Philip‘s service in the Royal Navy and his love of the water.

“We will put this donation towards our fundraising to buy replacement sailing dinghies for our Cadets.

“This project will ensure that the young people of Filey continue to have safe and fun sailing in the bay.”

Filey Sea Cadets are currently recruiting young people between the ages of 10 and 17 to join the unit .

The Sea Cadets offer a variety of fun activities both on land and on the water.
