John Ward, George Atkinson and Dougie Ward have been presented with RNLI Excellence in Volunteering certificates for their efforts in ensuring the pandemic did not stop the annual event which raises money for Filey Lifeboat Station.
Together they produced two days of virtual entertainment which was viewed on Facebook alone by over 160,000 people, and which raised a staggering £9,200.

“All three of us are very grateful for this award.”
John selected the themes and program for the weekend, and approached supporters to ask if they would make their own films.
He also contacted a range of special guests to advertise the weekend on video, secured copyright permission and then thanked all the contributors for their support afterwards.
Dougie, who is a student at The University of Nottingham and hopes to follow a career in marine engineering, is a crew member of both the all-weather and inshore lifeboats.
