Emily chasing chairman’s award glory
Just one person in Bridlington has been shortlisted for this year’s East Riding of Yorkshire Council Chairman’s Awards.
Emily Asquith will be up against Jake Bedford from Long Riston in the ‘Talented Performer’ category.
The annual awards, which are usually held at Bridlington Spa in May, had been put on hold due to the Covid-19 lockdown but on Tuesday, July 28, starting at 7pm, the winners will be crowned during a virtual event which will be streamed live on the council’s social media platforms.
The event will be hosted by BBC broadcaster and presenter Clare Frisby with chairman Councillor Pat Smith announcing the winners from each of the four categories.
Councillor Smith said: “I am delighted to be able to announce that the 2020 Chairman’s Awards will be going ahead – albeit in a very different format due to the coronavirus.
“Everyone has worked hard behind the scenes to ensure a virtual ceremony can take place which will give us all the opportunity to recognise all the effort and work people have put into their communities to make it a better place.
“The list of nominees has now been announced and I congratulate them all and wish them the best of luck for the final.”
