A post on North Yorkshire Police's Facebook page read:

"Loads of us love a Big Mac and fries

"But most of us wouldn't dream of driving 100 miles during lockdown to get one.

"On Saturday, one woman decided to visit Scarborough from Lincolnshire for a McDonald's meal.

"Driving through three counties to get a burger is not classed as essential travel. And it's unlikely she was 'lovin' it' when she received a fixed penalty from North Yorkshire Police.

"Most people in North Yorkshire are trying really hard to stop the spread of Covid in our communities and protect the most vulnerable.

"When this pandemic is over, it'll be fantastic to be able to go where we want, when we want.

"But in the meantime, thank you to everyone who continues to #StayHomeStayLocalStaySafe"
