Daniel completes gruelling 53-mile walk from Bridlington to Hull and back for Victim Support charity

Daniel Galloway, along with two other people, walked from Bridlington to Hull and back, covering more than 50 miles to bring in funds for the charity Victim Support.

Daniel and his team managed to complete the task in around 17 hours, setting off at 2.20am and reaching Hull at 10am.

They had a quick drink at a garage in Hull before turning around and heading home, getting back around 6.45pm.

Daniel set up a JustGiving page, hoping to raise £1,000 from his exploits. This target was smashed with the team accruing £1,300 with more funds due to come in.

Daniel decided to make a difference for Victim Support after his mum Vera Hudson was murdered by a neighbour in Hull.

The impact on losing his mum in such a manner has had a huge impact on Daniel and he wants to make a difference to other people’s lives through his exploits.

He plans to tackle a series of tough walks, is hoping to take a sponsored skydive at the Skydive GB Parachute Club in Grindale, and has an ultimate goal of walking the Great Wall of China.

He has already started to plan his skydive in September and will be releasing more details later in the year.

Daniel said: “The walk took around 17 hours and I was aching quite a bit afterwards.

“Due to the lockdown I couldn’t train for the walk too much, and walked to Sewerby and back from Bridlington.

“My mum was one of best mums going, she was well liked by many in Bridlington and Hull, and in our home town of Bradford. Her murder has had massive impact on all of my family’s lives. It hit me so hard I took two overdoses that could have ended my life.

“Thanks to my friends and family I fought it and pushed on and now I have now decided to start doing charity walks for the Victim Support charity which helps people who have lost a parent or family member.

“I’m planning a skydive in September and have set my sights on the Great Wall of China.
