The Bridlington group has over 80 activity groups covering a wide variety of subjects.

Some of the activities include various arts and crafts classes, a book club, croquet, ballroom and tap dancing, flat green bowls, a photography group, quiz nights, walks, computers for beginners, wine appreciation, drama and language groups.

Kevin Smith, chair of Bridlington u3a, said: “You may not have heard of u3a, but it is the new name of the University of the Third Age, reflecting the fact that we are truly inclusive and aim to provide activities that meet the needs of as many people as possible.

“Bridlington u3a has the motto learn, laugh, and live and with more than 900 members who are able to be involved in over 70 different activities ranging from Knitting to playing musical instruments and playing cards to geology or climate change, Bridlington u3a certainly lives up to its motto.

“The last year has meant that we have been unable to have meetings, but members have kept in touch by phone or Zoom, but as we move out of lockdown, our group leaders are starting to make arrangements for their groups to become fully engaged again.

“We look forward to marking the Ruby Anniversary of the founding of u3a next year and are preparing how we will showcase the exciting social events we can celebrate with our group and Bridlington.”
