The ‘From Brid with Love’ campaign was set up by Red Rich Townend from Emmanuel Church.

It encourages people from the town to show their gratitude for the vaccination rollout by paying for the world’s poor to receive their jabs.

Rev Townend started the campaign because he believes that the jabs should be available to all regardless of where they live.

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, helps vaccinate almost half the world’s children against deadly and debilitating infectious diseases.

The Alliance is currently working with countries to support Covid-19 response and to maintain and restore routine immunisation while co-leading global efforts on equitable access to coronavirus vaccines.

Rev Townend said: “I would like to thank everyone that has donated to the cause.

“The motivation for running this campaign is that a lot of residents I talk to had an unease the people in low income countries are not going to get a vaccine any time soon, yet we get ours free of charge very quickly. People really want to do something about this situation.

“This JustGiving page is an obvious and easy way for people to give something back.

“The reason I have called it From Bridlington with Love’ is this will be our gift to the world.”
