The Bridlington Club for Young People has applied for a new premises licence.

Details: Sale of alcohol on the premises and provision of facilities for regulated entertainment including: plays, films, indoor sporting events, boxing, live music, performance of dance. Hours: Monday to Friday noon to 11pm and Saturday and Sunday noon to 11pm.

I have no objection whatsoever to better sporting facilities for young people, which is an excellent idea for the area.

In my view this plan/application is not a good mix, a lot of these children will be quite young.

Also, the club is very near residential properties and the sale of alcohol could lead to anti social behaviour issues.

There could also be noise issues eg due to outdoor concerts. I think it is currently overseen by a charity, but the concern is if that it was taken over by a business and the venue then increased in size, problems with noise, anti social behaviour due to alcohol consumption and parking in neighbourhood streets could all increase massively.

I will therefore be objecting on the above grounds, and before the May 22 deadline.
