BUT one Bridlington woman will have an involvement with the Games after being chosen to take part in the Olympic Park run, which takes place this Saturday.
Steph Trowhill, 25, of Easby Close, Bridlington, believes she is the only runner in the town who is taking part in the event, which will see her join former Olympic and Paralympic athletes who will make history by being amongst the first to cross the London 2012 Olympic finish line.
The runners tackle a five mile course giving them access to the Olympic Park on a scale not yet experienced by members of the public.
Steph said: “I can’t wait to go down to London. It wil be the first I’ve ever been there, and to be running through the Olympic Park as well, is going to be fantastic.
“I was delighted to be chosen. I have been running for while, and I’ve done a few 10k runs, but this will be the best of the lot.”
Steph will join other runners past Olympic landmarks such as the cycling velodrome and medal presentation area, before heading through the athlete entrance into the Olympic Stadium, onto the back straight.
