Olympic torch

THOUSANDS of people packed the streets of Bridlington to greet the Olympic Torch as it passed through the town this afternoon (Monday June 18).

The sun shone and Union Jacks were out in force as crowds cheered the arrival of the torch as it arrived in Bridlington on Scarborough Road.

The torch then passed down St John Street and Quay Road, onto Station Avenue, before leaving the town along Kingsgate.

“A once in a lifetime experience” is how most onlookers described the experience, which saw torchbearers Dr Badr Alshibani, Gareth Thomas, Neil Sergeant and Sophie McMullen ferry the famous flame.
