Nominate your local hero for an award

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is asking members of the public to nominate their local hero.

The winner will be chosen by public vote and will be honoured at the service’s seventh annual Community Awards on September 24.

Last year’s winner was joiner Duncan Kirk of Keyingham who was praised for his bravery in saving a disabled man from a house fire in Hull.

A fire service spokesperson said: “We’re asking people to think of someone they know, which could be a family member, friend or colleague who they feel has acted in a heroic manner and is deserving of receiving the Local Hero Award.

“Nominations could be for quick-thinking actions in any situation such as a road traffic collision, water rescue or medical response or simply for people who just make a really positive difference to others through their actions.”

Nominations can be submitted by filling in the form on the website or by sending a letter to:

Local Hero, FREEPOST NEA3610, Humberside Fire & Rescue Service, HULL, HU4 7BR

Closing date for nominations is Monday 1 June, 2015.
