A new Male Voice Choir is to be formed at Sledmere.
New members are being sought from people who would enjoy singing traditional, classical and contemporary music in the village and beyond.
The choir is being formed by Ian Cockerline and Elaine Dave, who each have a wide experience of choirs and choral music over many years.
Ian has been a church organist and choirmaster for many years. He founded the Cottingham Musical Festival in 1978 which now attracts around 500 entries each year.
He was the accompanist for Driffield Male Voice Choir from 1979 until 2001 when he took over as Musical Director until retirement in 2012.
He has been honoured to be principal organist for the Festivals of Brass and Voices at the Royal Albert Hall on seven occasions since 1991 and is looking to fulfilling the role again in 2015.
Elaine Dave is a singing teacher for the East Riding Schools’ Music Service and directs two of their choirs.
Elaine is an accomplished soprano who has given recitals and has performed with leading choral societies in the area, including the Beverley Chamber Choir with whom she was a founder member.She has also performed with the Scarborough Symphony Orchestra and is due to perform with them again in May 2015.
Elaine enjoys her role as an accompanist for both soloists and ensembles alike.
From September she will be taking on the role as accompanist to the East Riding County Choir.
