AFTER more than six months of waiting, a shiny new bus shelter has finally appeared in St John Street, Bridlington.

Many nearby residents were disappointed when they were told in November last year that plans to demolish the existing brick bus stop were halted amid some opposition to the £15,000 scheme, near Baptist Place.

However, the council’s Environment and Transport Overview and Scrutiny Committee later decided to forge on with the plan and gave the green light for the old bus stop to go.

Manufacturing problems then lead to the arrival of the new £3,000 bus stop being several weeks late, but at the time of going to press, the new shelter was finally nearing completion.
