Putting their faith in good old fashioned ice cream has earned a Skipsea dairy three national awards.

Mr Moo’s Real Dairy Ice Cream based won diplomas of merit in the annual Ice Cream Alliance Ice Cream Expo held at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate. In a blind tasting the judges loved their white chocolate and raspberry, banoffee , and natural mint choc chip flavours.

Judith Foreman, who with husband Steve founded the business in 2003, said: “We are very pleased to get this recognition because we were up against almost all the ice cream manufacturers in the UK, large and small, including several Italian makers who are recognised masters of the art.”

Mr Moo’s is also a finalist in this year’s Visit Hull and East Yorkshire Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards in the ‘remarkable food producer’ category. They have entered this before and last year won first place in their category.

Back in when 2003 they took the plunge into ice cream and went from milking dairy cows on Southfield House Farm at Skipsea to ice cream production.

It was just a husband and wife team until their son Harry joined them six years ago and during the summer season they now employ around 20 full and part time people.

Mr Moo’s ice cream is available from their own ice cream parlour and coffee shop and at outlets on the east coast from Spurn Point to Runswick Bay and Hull to Heckmondwike.
