BRIDLINGTON MP Greg Knight, who was responsible for Health Secretary Andrew Lansley making a visit to the town’s hospital a year ago, said he had been approached by some constituents about the delays in repairing the roof, the empty bed situation, and other matters.
He said he welcomed the fact that work was at last underway on roof repairs, and to the operating theatre.
Mr Knight said: “The reason for the delay is not as clear cut as it appears.
“I do know from the chief executive of the Scarborough Trust they have had problems with it.
“They are replacing the roof with a long term solution which has had design problems as a result it is running behind schedule but it does not mean they are not doing it.
“Work should be completed by February and provide a long term solution.”
Mr Knight said he was writing to the trust to get updates on the current situation at Bridlington Hospital, including the empty wards.
“I know efforts are being made.
“I am disappointed with the pace of progress but if we get there in the end that is something to welcome, but I will raise issues about the timescale,” he said.
