Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team rescued a mother and teenager who got stuck at the top of cliffs with their dog.
Hornsea and Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Teams were called to Mappleton cliffs along with the Hornsea independent lifeboat at 4pm yesterday (Sunday April 29). Humberside police officers had also been called.
Coastguards used specialist rope rescue techniques to help bring the three back to safety. The sea conditions had been too rough to get the boat in alongside to help them.
Jordan Grebby, Senior Maritime Operations Officer with HM Coastguard said: ‘The team had to use its skill in rope rescue techniques – they put in the training for just such moments as this. All three were rescued – thankfully unharmed, although mother and child will be checked over because it was so cold up there.’
‘We love the coast and we want everyone to enjoy it safely and carefully. Even experienced cliff walkers can sometimes find themselves in trouble - so if you get into difficulty or you see someone else who is, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. ‘
