A £535,000 scheme to repair and improve Marton Road in Bridlington is ahead of schedule.
The major scheme to resurface the carriageway is already half way through – and the council has announced it will no longer need to close Marton Road on Sundays for the remaining four weeks of the project.
The road works are being carried out in seven phases between the Scarborough Road roundabout and the Sewerby Heads roundabout.
Cllr Chris Matthews said: “Work is progressing very well and we’re glad we won’t need to close the road on any more Sundays, which is great news for everybody.
“We would like to thank motorists, residents and businesses along the route for their continued patience while the roadworks are carried out.”
The eight-week project began on Monday 2 February and is due to finish on Friday 27 March.
Work will continue on Mondays to Fridays from 9.15am using controlled traffic signals, with a convoy vehicle in operation. Bus routes are operating as usual.
