ENERGETIC hospital porter David Tonks completed the Great Manchester Run and raised £275 for charity in the process.
David, 24, of Marshall Avenue, finished the 10k run around the city of Manchester in under 50 minutes. He raised £275 for Children with Leukaemia and wished to thank all those who sponsored him, particularly his colleagues at Bridlington Hospital.
“I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for their support, I’m really pleased with the amount we managed to raise,” he said.
“I enjoyed the run, it was actually easier than I thought it would be, the first 5k was uphill which was a bit more challenging but the second part was all downhill which was great.”
David also had time for a spot of celeb-spotting as he took to the track and caught glimpses of television soap stars taking part in the event as well as African runner Haile Gebrselassie who finished the run first with a time of 28 minutes and 10 seconds.
