THE annual Bridlington Lions bonfire and fireworks display again went off with a bang giving thousands of locals a night to remember.
The annual display saw around 4,000 people gather at the cliff top at Limekiln Lane for the lighting of the bonfire, as well as a display of fireworks which has been called the ‘best yet’.
Bridlington Lions Club president John Bayne said: “It was a really big success.
“Everyone had a great time and the fireworks were tremendous, maybe the best we’ve had, building up to the climax at the end.
“We have broken even as far as money goes so we would like to say a big thank you to the public who came along and supported us.
“We reduced the ticket price this year to try and encourage more people to come along and it seems as if they have responded and come along for a great Saturday evening of family entertainment.”
Bridlington Police reported no major problems over the period.
Sgt Steve Dove said: “We had no issues on mischief night, so from our point of view it was a nice, peaceful evening. No more than what we would have usually expected. I have not seen any reports of major incidents on bonfire night, and the Lions display was once again a great family evening.”
