Driffield Agricultural Society is offering special life membership packages as a way of part funding a £400,000 project aimed at improving facilities at the showground at Kelleythorpe.
The organisation has started raising money towards a £255,000 stage one scheme on the site of the current farmers’ market building to create a venue capable of seating upwards of 300 people.
This will be followed by large scale stage two investment involving the creation of a shower and toilet block for use throughout the year for activities, events and rallies.
The society is offering an initial tranche of 100 life membership packages at £1000 each.
All life members will receive an enamel lapel badge to show their continued support for the Driffield Agricultural Society along with benefits associated with annual membership such as entry to the annual Driffield Show and members pavilion and use of the members car park.
Show director Mr Dave Tite said the offer was perfect as a christening, 18th or 21st birthday present or as a Christmas gift.
Membership also includes discounted access to selected Driffield Showground events including the game and country fair and free access to Newark Show.
Throughout the year the society will also be negotiating exciting discounts with local businesses.
Older residents will be offered the opportunity of taking one of 100 senior life membership packages at just £500.
This package has been designed for people over 60.
Life membership packages are already selling well. The first to take one was Mrs Carol Rymer who was handed a bottle of champagne by Mr Tite in recognition of her support.
