Re the front page story calling for more police.
Here’s my recent experience of contacting the 101 non-emergency number to try and report a Bridlington incident - maybe a reporter could try doing the same and report on findings:
• Ring 101
• Put through to Humberside police
• Rings for a long time with no answer
• Automated message advises pressing a number to get a call back to avoid hanging on
• No-one calls back - not that day, or any other day...
If crime stats are looking rosy for the police, could the reason be that no-one is able to report a crime in the first place?
