Letter: Let's plan a weekend show

I've had an idea about holding an unofficial scooter rally on alternative years when the official rally isn't coming to Bridlington.

Reader Oliver Stones has come up with the idea for the people of Bridlington to put on their own scooter rally weekend.

Why don’t we, as in Bridlington, organise our own scooter weekend alternatively from 2019. We don’t need the official body to come here, just the scooter lads.

Let’s do what we do so well here in Bridlington; let’s make the scooter crowd welcome and put on a great show for them.

If a few businesses, and/or the council, get together I’m sure we could organise a brilliant weekend.

If large venues such as the Pavillion, The Spa, Utopia/The Barn, Sterling Castle and Harbour Lights continue putting on good music and bands I’m sure we can give the official rally a run for their money.

Instead of being so glumly, let’s make this happen. During the 2018 rally we could promote our own 2019 rally. I’m not sure how feasible this would be, but it’s got to be worth a discussion.

I bet many businesses would want to get involved. I only have the basic idea, we would need others to make this happen.

Maybe Bridlington can do a better job than the official body? I’ve contacted the town council about this idea in the hope that it can become a reality.
