There are thousands of discounted Advance fares available just for you, such as Leeds, York, Wakefield, Doncaster and Hull* to London for just £8 and York to Edinburgh for £8 -all one-way Standard Class fares.

Or treat yourself to First Class. There are some fabulous fares on offer, such as Leeds, York and Wakefield to London for £33, Doncaster to London for £32 or York to Edinburgh for just £24 - all one-way First Class fares.

 

To qualify for these extra-special fares, you need to collect four tokens from your local paper. One token will be printed every day from 11th October 2010 until 22nd October 2010. What’s more, with one set of tokens up to four people can travel together.

 

The Reader Offer fares are available for travel between 1st November and 17th December 2010, for travel on off-peak services with limited availability on Friday and Sunday afternoons. At such great prices, we are expecting a high response with the biggest demand for travel at weekends, so if you can travel mid-week you will have more choice.

 

To give you greater choice and flexibility all Advance tickets are sold as single fares, allowing you to choose the lowest available prices for every stage of your journey. This means you can select the Reader Offer fare on the outward journey and, if the return train of your choice is unavailable, you can select the best fare shown. This mix and match option will give you even greater opportunities to travel at a great price.

How to book

Terms and Conditions

In addition to the National Rail Conditions of Carriage, the following conditions apply:

The offer is only available to holders of the appropriate number of tokens. These must be taken on the journey for inspection on the train. If you are unable to present the tokens when requested, you will be liable to pay the balance of the full fare for the journey. This applies to each ticket booked under the offer. A set of tokens can only be used for one return journey. If you plan to use this offer more than once, you will need a complete set of tokens for each return journey you make. A Reader Offer fare must be booked 3 weeks in advance of outward travel. Once a booking is made, no refunds or changes will be allowed. No Railcard, child, on-line or other discounts are available with this offer. Under 5s travel free if they do not occupy a seat. Travel is only permitted on the East Coast service on which you are reserved; no break of journey is allowed, except to change to/from connecting trains where these are shown on your ticket or itinerary. Reader Offer fares are available in Standard Class and First Class. If you have purchased a Standard Class Reader Offer ticket, no upgrade to First Class will be allowed except at weekends. You may upgrade to Weekend First for £20 or £25 each way, per person, depending on the journey. This can only be done on board. Please note Weekend First does not allow access to East Coast First Class lounges.

 

*PLEASE NOTE: If travelling from Hull, Brough or Selby on a connecting train service to London, a change is required Doncaster onto a National Express East Coast service.

The Reader Offer fare on a connecting service from Hull, Brough or Selby to London is £10. If travelling on a direct East Coast service from Hull to London, the Reader Offer fare is £8.
