The shock news comes just a week after it was revealed that Gembling Primary School and Dunswell Primary School also face the axe as part of a review by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Mrs Lynn Wilson, Headteacher at Langtoft, and Mr Mark Kelly, Chair of Governors, said in a statement: “The parents, governors and staff of Langtoft Primary School have been informed that under the Review of Primary Schools, the Local Authority

is considering the closure of our school in July 2013.

“Our school community is extremely shocked at the speed of the proposals.

“Langtoft Primary School has been held in high regard as a centre of learning and a huge support to the community. In December 2012 the school was judged as a Good School in all areas by Ofsted. Parent View shows 100% of parents would recommend the school to another parent.”
