'I was disgusted with myself': Brid woman admits video shame
A former bar worker says she's 'keeping away' from the gin after footage of her foul-mouthed antics went viral.
Samantha Chapman was “disgusted” by embarrassing footage of herself that emerged on Facebook.
The 30-year-old was arrested and fined after mouthing-off at another reveller and charging her to the ground outside a Bridlington nightclub on Saturday morning (March 4), at around 2.30am.
Swaying on her feet, the video shows Samantha give chase, bombing down the Esplanade before reaching the other woman and knocking her over.
“I was disgusted with myself – it’s not me,” said Samantha who is looking for work.
“I had drank half a bottle of gin that night and I don’t ever touch gin.
“I just remember being in one of the pubs in town until it closed, then apparently I went to a club with two of the staff from there.”
Samantha said she can’t remember anything afterwards, nor when police turned up to arrest her.
“It was embarrassing. I shouldn’t have done it.”
She said whatever had spurned her against the other woman that “it still didn’t give me the right to do what I did to her”.
She is now fighting for her reputation and wants Bridlington to know that the enraged woman in the video doesn’t reflect her in real life.
“I didn’t know about it until my friend inboxed me. She asked if I was fighting last night – that’s when I found out.
“I don’t want people thinking I’m some lunatic who goes on a rampage. I don’t want people thinking I’m some sort of madwoman.
“I regret my actions, it’s totally out of character and I do feel remorse for her.”
“I have been told I have a got a good personality. I don’t have a bad bone in my body.”
She is also worried her new-found fame could reflect badly on future job applications, after being out of work for around a year.
The former bar worker added: “I have always been hard-working. I like to be out there and socialising with other people.
“I used to live in Hull and wanted to move to Bridlington for years. The people are more friendly up here and it’s quieter.”
