Hundreds head to the Spa for Bridlington Comic Con

Super heroes, storm-troopers and sci-fi stars took centre stage as Bridlington Comic Con cementred its place as one of the most popular events in the town's calendar.

Now in its third year, the fun day for families attracted 1,700 people to Bridlington Spa on Saturday.

The special guest was Hannah Spearritt, the former S Club 7 singer, who has since forged a career in acting, appeating in ITV dinosaur series Primeval, as well as Eastenders.

There were workshops, guest signings and interviews, demonstrations from comic book artists and some of the dazzling costumes which

Stormtroopers were waiting outside the venue, Spiderman took a trip on the land train, and Batman, Captain America, Poison Ivy and R2D2 were all inside.

There was even an after-party in the evening, with music and entertainment from DJ Zoom Rocket and DJ Star Ques.

Steve Bowman from organisers District 14 Events, said: “We had another really busy year.

“It was great to see all the costumes as always, and to see them on the land train touring around Brid.

“We had virtual reality gaming for the first time this year and that was busy all day, all free to play.

“We also had Andrew Lawden from Star Wars training people to fight with light sabres using the moves and techniques he learnt on set, which was very popular.

“We also had a local artist Abbie Rial doing a drawing class that was really well attended and we had great feedback on.

“Everything above was included in the entry price.

“It was also great to be able to being a big name like Hannah Spearritt to Brid, and we hope to be able to do more things like this as we contribute to grow the events.

“We’ll be back at the Spa again next September.”
