A man is to appear in court this morning charged with burglary using violence at a Bridlington property.
At 10.45pm on Saturday evening (February 27th), Humberside Police received a call reporting two men and woman pushing a moped along Kingsgate, Bridlington who appeared to be very drunk.
A few minutes later a 999 call came in from woman reporting she had just been assaulted by an intruder who she confronted in her kitchen on Kingsgate. The victim managed to get a good description of the intruder and officers were immediately dispatched to the area.
As the officers commenced an area search near to Kingsgate, they came across a man laid in the road, who matched the same description as the alleged intruder who assaulted the woman in her home down Kingsgate. A second man and a woman were also found close by with a moped.
All three were initially arrested on suspicion of burglary.
One of the men was charged over the weekend. Luke Walton (25), will appear at Hull Magistrates Court this morning (Monday February 29, 2016) charged with burglary with violence, possession of a class B drug, and taking a motor vehicle without the owners content (TWOC).
A Humberside Police spokesman said: "Thanks to the member of the public who initially reported the three people pushing the moped down Kingsgate additional evidence was immediately gathered. If you see something whilst walking, driving or passing-by which you think is out of character or suspicious Humberside Police would like to know about it…you never know how useful your call could be."
