Representatives of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which is based at The Beatrice Wright Centre in Bielby, were thrilled to visit staff at CB Solutions.

They were there to deliver certificates of thanks to the company following its outstanding fundraising efforts at this year’s Simplyhealth Great North Run.

The team of seven runners, a mixture of staff and their friends and family, took on the 13.1mile challenge in support of the charity and raised an incredible £3,319.25.

£3,319 was raised by staff and family members at the Great North Run.

Representatives from the charity, along with Demonstration Dog Peppa and Hearing Dog Puppy Marvin, visited the company’s offices in Lissett to personally deliver the thank you and provide a short demonstration for staff.

Managing director Kerry Taylor said: “I had never heard of the charity before a family member began volunteering with them.

“We were sent some information about Hearing Dogs and one case study really highlighted how deafness impacts on mental health.

“The isolation and loneliness he had experienced had left him feeling severely depressed – but the introduction of his hearing dog had totally transformed his life.

“This really resonated with my team. The company always seeks to help local charities where possible and we felt that getting a team of runners together and taking on the Great North Run was a great way to do this.”

Gemma Wardle Community Fundraising Support Officer for Hearing Dogs said: “We were so happy to go along and thank the staff in person – their incredible fundraising efforts helped us not only reach but exceed our target for 2019.

“Demo dog Peppa, alongside her trainer, Helen, gave the staff a demonstration of the work our incredibly clever dogs do. She was such a superstar that even more staff decided to sign up and take on the challenge in support of the charity next year.”

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity that trains dogs that help deaf people leave loneliness behind and reconnect with life.

Could you follow in CB Solutions footsteps and get a corporate team together to take on the challenge? Hearing Dogs for Deaf People have guaranteed charity places available in the Simplyhealth Great North Run, which will be taking place in Newcastle on Sunday, September 13, 2020.
