Bridlington’s MP has said he is still working to get the health secretary to visit the town in the forthcoming months.
Sir Greg Knight did not comment on the latest closure at the town’s hospital when asked by the Free Press, but said he remained hopeful that he will be able to persuade Jeremy Hunt to look around the site.
He said: “I have had meetings with local health officials and a meeting with the Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt MP about the future of Bridlington Hospital. My representations are ongoing.
“I have also invited Jeremy Hunt to come and see Bridlington Hospital for himself and I hope he will accept my invitation sometime later this year.”
Sir Greg has said following previous ward closures that ‘it makes sense to make far greater use of the relatively modern hospital at Bridlington’ while other hospitals are stretched to full capacity.
